If you’ve visited the iTunes store, you probably noticed that they usually offer a track or two for free via a link on the front page of the store. Well, we did our research and put together this link which will get you to a “Free on iTunes” page listing all the current free music tracks and video clips. Since they change the list often, you may want to bookmark the link (right click on link and choose to add to favorites/bookmarks).
P.S. — If for some reason you haven’t tried it yet, you can download iTunes here

Sandisk’s Sansa MP3 Players have been subject to quite a bit of attention lately (including from us) as a low cost alternative to the iPod Nano. The Sansa is available in capacities ranging from 2GB to 8GB, all in a small footprint which includes a sharp 1.8-inch TFT color screen and a microSD memory expansion slot. Additionally, the Sansa comes with an FM tuner and a voice recorder and supports Microsoft PlayForSure.
Last week we shared with you a Dell coupon for the 4GB Sansa. Now, J&R is throwing its hat in the ring with discounted prices on the 2GB, 6GB, and 8GB Sansas which it claims are the lowest prices on Pricegrabber. The 2GB Sansa is available for $79.99 after a rebate (expires 10/30/06) while the 6GB costs $149.99 and the 8GB sells for $179.99.

So far, Apple has received the early attention with the release of the iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition for $199. Like the other 4GB nanos the PRODUCT (RED) iPod holds up to 1,000 songs, has 24 hours of battery life, and can be engraved. $10 from the sale price will go towards The Global Fund.
Gap has also joined the project by selling 24 (PRODUCT) RED specific t-shirts, hoodies, tank tops, belts, jeans, and totes. The products are manufactured in Lesotho where Gap has invested in factories and clinics to help support an African country where nearly 1/3 of the population (600,000) is HIV-positive.

After years of creating sleek black, grey, and white products, we recently noticed that Sony added color options to several lines of cameras and TVs. Now we know why.
Sony‘s latest marketing campaign focuses on what they’re calling My Style, where you pick from one of four color/personality combos which then promotes LCD TVs, laptops, headphones, MP3 players, and digital cameras all of which are in a design and style that matches the personality.
The four personalities are:
- Yellow – Described as “Contemporary culture, music and urban trends”. For this style, Sony is promoting high quality silver and black devices and cameras along with a Vaio laptop painted in yellow and red.
- Red – “Eye-catching patterns and a palette of colors to express my many moods”. Pink and red digital cameras and flowery designs.
- Green – “Rich or pastel colors, and simple, elegant patterns and shapes”. Classic silver and black products with some pastel colored MP3 players and laptops.
- Blue – “Streamlined functionality featuring modern or retro shapes and colors”. Black, blue, and silver products with very elegant and clean lines.
Again, the promoted products are all essentially the same, it’s really about the look of the various devices. I suspect this means that we should expect Sony to issue more styling options to its products. When you buy an LCD, for example, you will be able to pick a bezel color so you can match your style. It is also an attempt to push individuality, suggesting that there’s a Sony product to match various people.
We’ll keep track and see how far they take this campaign and we will of course update you on any developments.
